Chang’e is a character in Chinese mythology. She was a human, but she took two magic pills and became a moon goddess. There are many versions of this story in which Chang’e had different motivations to take the elixir. The myth of Chang’e has changed over the millennia of her existence, strongly influenced by the image of women and family in Confucian culture. In the concert performance “Chang’e, why you flew to the moon?” the performers perform on a runway, emerge to the audience again and again, always with a new face. It shows different possibilities of this story and their connections to the contemporary life of the FLINTA people.

Chang’e ist eine Figur in der chinesischen Mythologie. Sie war ein Mensch, aber sie nahm zwei magische Pillen und wurde die Mond-göttin. Es gibt viele Versionen von dieser Geschichte, in denen Chang’e als Heldin oder als schlechte Ehefrau dargestellt wird. Der Mythos von Chang’e wandelte sich über die ihre jahrtausendelange Existenz, stark geprägt von dem strengen Frauen-und Familienbild der konfuzianischen Kultur. In der Konzert-performance “Chang’e, why you flew to the moon?” the Performer*innen bespielen den Laufsteg und erscheinen dem Publikum wieder und wieder mit neuen Gesichtern. Es zeigt verschiedene Möglichkeiten dieser Geschichte und ihre Verbindungen zum heutigen Leben der FLINTA Menschen.
